Understanding Sexual Harassment Law

Under federal and state law, sexual harassment is considered a specific type of workplace discrimination. Here in South Carolina, both state and federal laws protect private and public employees from discrimination and harassment based on their sex. Under the South Carolina Human Affairs Law, South Carolina Code Section 1-13-10, private and public employers with 15 or more employees are prohibited from discriminating against employees because of their sex and related issues such as pregnancy, childbirth, and other similar medical conditions.
